Medical & Travel Insurance Requirements

Because LATI-TUDE Travel journeys include remote safari environments, appropriate medical and emergency evacuation coverage is required for all travelers.

Travel insurance, including trip cancellation and interruption coverage, is not required by LATI-TUDE Travel but is strongly recommended to protect your travel investment.

Required Medical & Emergency Evacuation Coverage

All travelers are required to have appropriate medical and emergency evacuation coverage for the full duration of their journey.

Coverage should include:

  • Emergency medical treatment

  • Emergency medical evacuation

  • Coverage applicable in Tanzania and throughout your LATI-TUDE Travel itinerary

  • 24/7 emergency assistance

Emergency evacuation coverage is particularly important when traveling in remote safari areas where access to major medical facilities may be limited.

Recommended Emergency Evacuation Resource

LATI-TUDE Travel recommends that travelers review AMREF Flying Doctors Maisha Tourist Plus as one option for emergency medical evacuation coverage.

For travelers visiting Tanzania and Zanzibar, AMREF currently lists the Tourist Silver Plus plan as providing coverage across Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar.

Maisha Tourist Plus currently includes:

  • Unlimited emergency evacuation by air and ground within the covered regions

  • 24/7 medical helpline

  • Hospitalization in Nairobi for qualifying medical emergencies

  • Medical transfer to South Africa when specialized treatment is not available in Nairobi

  • Return flight after treatment

  • Repatriation of mortal remains

  • Up to US$200,000 in post-evacuation inpatient medical coverage

Coverage, eligibility, limits, exclusions, pricing, and terms are determined by AMREF Flying Doctors and may change. Travelers should review the current plan terms before purchasing.

LATI-TUDE Travel does not provide or sell AMREF coverage. This information is provided as a resource to help travelers evaluate emergency medical evacuation options.

Travel Insurance — Strongly Recommended

Travel insurance is not included in the price of your journey and is not required by LATI-TUDE Travel.

However, we strongly recommend that every traveler consider purchasing travel insurance to protect their investment.

Your LATI-TUDE Travel journey requires advance reservations and financial commitments for accommodations, transportation, activities, and local services. Payments are non-refundable once received under our Booking & Cancellation Policy.

Travel insurance may provide protection for covered circumstances such as:

  • Trip cancellation

  • Trip interruption

  • Travel delays

  • Lost or delayed baggage

  • Other covered travel-related expenses

If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you accept responsibility for any financial loss resulting from a cancellation, interruption, delay, or other circumstance that could have been covered by an insurance policy.

LATI-TUDE Travel does not assume responsibility for losses that are not covered by the traveler's selected insurance policy.

Medical Evacuation and Travel Insurance Are Different

Medical and emergency evacuation coverage protects you in the event of a medical emergency during your journey.

Travel insurance can provide additional protection for your financial investment and other covered travel-related losses.

One does not necessarily replace the other. Travelers should review their coverage carefully and determine what protection is appropriate for their individual circumstances.

Your Responsibility

Before departure, travelers are responsible for:

  • Obtaining the required medical and emergency evacuation coverage

  • Confirming that their coverage applies to Tanzania and all destinations included in their itinerary

  • Confirming that coverage remains valid for the entire duration of the journey

  • Reviewing policy terms, exclusions, coverage limits, and claims procedures

  • Carrying proof of coverage while traveling

Travelers who choose to purchase travel insurance are responsible for selecting a policy appropriate for their individual needs and circumstances.
